BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A family was displaced from their home Tuesday night following a fire in the 900 block of Lucinda Drive. According to the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, all occupants of the home were out of the home upon the arrival of firefighters. The house has been deemed uninhabitable, with damage estimates at $360,000.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home at around 7:16 p.m. following reports of a structure fire. While firefighters were en route, Buffalo Grove police had arrived at the scene and reported smoke coming from the home, upgrading the alarm for additional assistance.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke on the second floor as they started an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters confirmed all occupants were out of the house, and the fire was brought under control within approximately 15 minutes.

One of the residents was brought to Northwest Community Hospital for medical, non-life-threatening reasons.

Officials said firefighters and police remained on the scene until just after midnight, checking for fires in void spaces and making sure there were no hot spots. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Buffalo Grove fire and police departments, as well as the Illinois State Fire Marshall's Office.
