Fire rips through Brownsville bar, damaging apartments above

Fire rips through Fayette County bar, leaving apartments damaged and a firefighter injured A fire at a Fayette County bar left several people displaced Sunday evening.Crews were called to Pickers Pub and Grub on High Street in Brownville. Officials are still working to determine a cause, but at least 12 people were impacted.The building itself had the restaurant on the first floor with apartments on the second and third floors.Fire officials added that everyone inside made it out safely and where the fire started is unclear.The chief of South Brownsville Fire Department said they were returning from another fire just before this one broke out. Fourteen other departments responded to help put the fire out. "They were already pretty much whooped from that one. It didn't slow them down. They did what they needed to do and they took a beating but they did a phenomenal job," Chief Ron Berry said. Berry said one firefighter did suffer an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital. The fire is under investigation.
