Firefighters, Motorcycle Aficionados, Citizens, Donate To BPD K9 Arrow
BRANFORD, CT — Branford police took to social media to shout out a "heartfelt thank you" to those who have made important, and likely life-saving, donations to K9 Arrow in the last few months.
This year, firefighters rocked mullets to raise money for "new police K9 protective vests and other accessories to allow the dogs and their handlers to be as safe and as beneficial to the community as possible."
The Branford business celebrated Branford's K-9 unit, Arrow, and his handler, Branford Police Department Sgt. Melissa Carney, and presented Arrow with a new temperature sensor—an essential tool for his work, made possible by generous donations from local fundraising initiatives
Through these fundraisers, K9 Arrow received a new bulletproof vest, an upgraded heat alarm system for his car, a medical kit for working in the field and an advanced life support medical kit.
"This medical kit was provided in partnership with K9 Medic to provide Sgt Carney and K9 Arrow with tools proven to be successful through best practices for emergency care from all over the country," police shared on Facebook.
