Firefighters quench garage fire at family residence in Tyler

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler firefighters are on the scene of a residential fire Thursday night.

The call came in from a home on Tennaha Avenue in Tyler at around 8:30 p.m. There were six children in the home, and two adults, according to Chief Casey Cabaniss. He said that they were all able to get outside safely.

The fire was isolated in the garage, possibly from an appliance. They were able to control it in about 15 minutes. At this time, Cabaniss said, they are watching the area and venting smoke from it.

The fire marshal is inspecting the area to ensure it's safe for the family to go back inside for the night. There were no injuries reported.
