First Alert Weather Days: Timeline for rain, wind and snow

E.Wright28 min ago
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Wednesday and Thursday are First Alert Days due to the chances of disruptive weather, which includes strong winds and wintry mix, according to the FOX19 NOW Weather Team.

Wednesday will start with widespread fog and scattered rain showers.

Temperatures will rise into the mid-to-upper 50s ahead of a powerful low-pressure system that will grow stronger over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Region.

This low-pressure system will usher in cold air behind it, in addition to producing strong wind gusts around 40 mph at times.

Power outages are possible.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning, temperatures plummet to the 30s but remain above freezing.

This, however, will allow for precipitation to change from rain to a rain/snow mix.

Frozen precipitation is not expected to stick to the ground, but the weather team says it will be wet on the roads overnight and throughout Thursday.

A wintry mix will come in two waves Thursday: once in the morning and then again in the evening.

Potential snowfall totals range anywhere from 0.2′′ to 2.5′′given how evolving the forecast is, the weather team said.

Temperatures will be in the 30s all day with wind chill factors in the low 20s.

Winds will again be strong with gusts of 40 to 45 mph.

Behind the system, drier air will move into the Tri-State for Thursday night into early Friday.

Drizzle and/or snow flurries are possible on Friday with cloudy conditions.

Temperatures will remain below normal with highs in the low-to-mid-40s.

The feels like temperatures for Friday morning will range from 19 degrees to 27 degrees in some areas.

The weekend will be dry with temperatures rising into the 50s going into the start of Thanksgiving Week.
