Five adults, one child and two cats displaced in Elkridge house fire

Nov. 12—Around 6:20 p.m., Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services firefighters responded to a house fire in the 5600 block of Furnace Avenue in Elkridge on Saturday.

Crews arrived on the scene to find the fire showing from the second floor, according to the fire department. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes.

Five adults, one child and two cats have been displaced, according to the fire department. There were no civilian injuries.

The fire department does not have any further information on the incident or needs the occupants of the home may have, according to the fire department's director of community outreach and media affairs. The occupants did not request assistance from the Red Cross.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Mutual aid was provided by Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties and BWI Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
