A tragic incident unfolded in Duluth, Minnesota, where f ive people, including two juveniles, were found dead in what police are calling a quadruple murder-suicide. The victims were discovered in two separate homes on Thursday (November 7).

The Duluth Police Department responded to a welfare check at a home on Tacony Street, where they found a 47-year-old woman, Erin Abramson, and her 15-year-old son, Jacob Nephew, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The police then identified a suspect, 46-year-old Anthony Nephew, and set up surveillance at his residence, located about a mile northeast of the initial shooting scene. Upon entering the home, officers found two more victims, 45-year-old Kathryn Nephew and her seven-year-old son, Oliver Nephew, also dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The suspect, Anthony Nephew, was also found dead at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to USA Today.

Anthony Nephew was married to Kathryn Nephew and was Oliver's father. He was previously in a relationship with Erin Abramson, and Jacob Nephew was their son. Duluth Police Chief Mike Ceynowa stated at a press conference on Friday that officers have preliminarily seen a pattern of mental health issues with Anthony Nephew during their investigation.

The police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the Duluth community. The case remains under active investigation. The identities of the victims were released once their respective next of kin were notified.
