If you're searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst's Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that's time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We're certain you'll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Donate to food distribution efforts

The Kind Mouse is a nonprofit dedicated to serving children who do not know where their next meal outside of school will come from. The organization has started a fundraising effort to raise money to purchase food for families impacted by Hurricane Helene. You can donate online at this link. The Kind Mouse also takes in-kind donations of nonperishable food items. Reach out to (727) 575-7834 or email for drop-off information.

Volunteers needed at Feeding Tampa Bay

Feeding Tampa Bay has been running multiple sites of emergency food distribution, providing more than 725,000 meals in response to Hurricane Helene. The nonprofit has also given out 2,500 cooked meals to first responders, neighbors and group homes who needed post-storm assistance.

With the massive spike in need comes a huge need for additional volunteers. If you can help, sign up for a shift by visiting feedingtampabay.org/ways-we-serve/disaster-relief

Plastic bins needed in Shore Acres

Hurricane Helene brought dangerous flood waters surging into Shore Acres, upending many lives and causing millions in damage to people's homes and belongings.

"It's devastating, it really is," said Kevin Batdorf, President of the Shore Acres Civic Association. "It's like driving through a canyon of people's lives on the curb."

Shore Acres families are in need of plastic bins to help hold and carry items saved from area houses. Bins can be dropped off at the Islander Market at 4534 Chancellor Street NE.

Donations needed for pet food

Pupactive, a dog-centric clothing company in St. Petersburg, has been purchasing pet food, treats, toys and supplies for those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene, providing direct relief to families in their time of need.

If you are able to volunteer your time and personal vehicle to help shop, text Pupactive's founder Lara at (727) 492-7238. You can also donate items or money to support the efforts.

Items and volunteers requested by Reach St. Pete

The nonprofit Reach St. Pete is collecting supplies to distribute to residents in Pinellas County. They are also asking for volunteers willing to help or donate . Since the storm, the organization has served countless people by connecting individuals and families with the food, supplies, information and resources they need to recover.
