NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – amaging winds of 60+ mph are involved with this thunderstorm. Seek shelter immediately.a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the following locations: Metairie, Avondale, Jefferson, Harahan, Westwego, Elmwood, Waggaman, Bridge City, River Ridge, and the New Orleans Armstrong Airport. The storm is capable of producing winds of 60 mph along with heavy rain and small hail. The track is to the N at 35 mph, putting it DIRECTLY over the Causeway Bridge. UPDATE: A flash flood warning has been issued for New Orleans, Harvey, Timberlane, Marrero, Belle Chasse, Metairie, Jefferson, Gretna, Westwego, Terrytown, Arabi, Bridge City, Woodmere, Estelle and the Lakefront Airport. According to the National Weather Service... A thunderstorm producing heavy rain near Larose will move into the city where about 2 inches of rain have already fallen. 1-3 more inches are possible. Flooding is expected to begin shortly.: Heavy rain has been seen throughout the past few hours and an additional 1-2 inches are expected before the morning is up! Expect minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. A flood warning has been issued for the following locations: New Orleans, Marrero, Harvey, Timberlane, Avondale, Metairie,Belle Chasse, Chalmette, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan, Westwego, Terrytown, Bridge City, Woodmere, Estelle, Arabi, Elmwood, River Ridge and Waggaman.
