A National Weather Service flood watch for Luzerne County will continue through this morning, though heavy rain Sunday did not cause flooding on streams and creeks.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph in some areas caused minimal damage.
Chief of public safety Alan Pugh said Sunday that Luzerne County Emergency Management would continue to check on small streams and look out for wind damage, even though there were no major events reported.
“We haven’t gotten any calls on anything major,” Pugh said. “But we’ll have a better forecast on things by (this) evening.”
According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 38, and wind gusts diminishing to 18 mph.
“We’ll keep monitoring (the storm) and staying in touch with 911,” Pugh said. “But, we don’t expect any issues, and that (water) levels will stay normal.”
A spokeswoman for PPL said the nearest power outage in the county was in White Haven on Sunday.
Luzerne County Emergency Management reported Saturday that the Susquehanna River measured in Wilkes-Barre was expected to remain below the natural flood stage of 22 feet and crest near 18 feet Tuesday morning. On Sunday expectations were still the same.
