J.Mitchell3 months ago

defensive back commits took to social media Monday after reports indicated that Florida had parted ways with secondary coach Corey Raymond.

McKinney (Texas) five-star safety Xavier Filsaime was one such recruit who posted on social media following the news. He committed to the Gators on April 13.

“What really stood out is the vibe and chemistry I had with the coaches when I first met them in person,” Filsaime told On3 in April . “Also the fact that I’m from Florida and I’ll be back home. It’s only a 2 hour flight from Texas, so it really worked out both ways.”

has remained vigilant in its recruitment efforts of the elite in-state defensive back. Filsaime recently visited Austin, and Longhorns insider Gerry Hamilton spoke about Texas’ chances of flipping him on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show .

“The visit went very well for Texas, from everything I heard,” Hamilton said on The Inside Scoop . “He went on the visit with his father — one-day visit. He went and watched Texas practice, so he got a chance to look at them in a game-prep situation, which I think is what he actually wanted to do with this visit process here at the end. Spent time with Steve Sarkisian, the defensive staff, everything I heard was a very productive visit for the Texas side and they believe they have a legitimate shot here.”

Filsaime is the nation’s No. 29 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 2 safety and No. 7 recruit from Texas.

Josiah Davis ‘not decommitting’

Filsaime was joined on social media by Nashville (Ga.) Berrien three-star safety Josiah Davis , who reaffirmed his commitment to the Gators.
