Flyers men’s soccer repeats as Atlantic 10 champions, blanks St. Louis 3-0 at Baujan

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The No. 5 University of Dayton men's soccer team defeated Saint Louis 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field to win back-to-back Atlantic 10 Championships. The Flyers (13-2-3) move on to the NCAA Tournament with the automatic bid while the Billikens (8-4-8) suffered their second loss of the season to the Flyers. Graduate student Hjalti Sigurdsson was named A-10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player and earned All-Tournament Team honors along with Andrew Armstrongc, Martin Bakken, Felix Buabeng, Joseph Melto Quiah, and Dario Caetano.SCORING BREAKDOWN42:49 – Freshman Felix Buabeng broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute with a shot off the post via assists from sophomore Martin Bakken and graduate student Hjalti Sigurdsson. It was Buabeng's third goal of the season. 70:44 – Senior Joseph Melto Quiah shot the ball into the goal in the 70th minute with the assist going to sophomore Braden Seel. It was Melto Quiah's eighth goal of the season. 73:13 – Buabeng secured his second goal of the match in the 73rd minute with the assist from freshman Andrew Armstrong. It was Buabeng's fourth goal of the seasonINSIDE THE NUMBERS Dayton outshot Saint Louis 19-6 and put five on target to the Billikens' one. Melto Quiah had a team-high six shots while Buabeng had four shots and Bakken had three shots. Nine Flyers played all 90 minutes for Dayton.
