It comes as Hollywood actor and fellow Dubliner Barry Keoghan starred in the music video for their latest single, Bug, which was released earlier today.

Their album A Hero's Death was also nominated for Best Rock Album four years ago, though they ultimately lost out to The Strokes.

Their competition for best album this time around include The Black Crowes, Green Day, IDLES, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones and The White Stripes' frontman Jack White.

Fontaines D.C. will face off against Cage the Elephant, Nick Cave, Kim Gordon and St Vincent for Best Alternative Music Performance.

Belfast rapper Jordan Adetunji has been shortlisted in the category of Best Melodic Rap for his collaboration with singer Kehlani on the track 'Kehlani (Remix)'.

Beyoncé once again dominates the shortlist with 11 nominations following the release of her country album Cowboy Carter, including in headline categories like album of the year and record of the year.

She is the most nominated artist in Grammy history, surpassing her husband Jay-Z to reach 99 nods in total.

The Beatles have also received a nod this year for their song Now and Then, which was billed as their last-ever release.

Superstar Taylor Swift has been shortlisted in the album category for the seventh time, making history as she previously tied with Barbra Streisand with six nominations.

Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish have all received 7 nominations each, while rising stars Chapell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter both receiving 6 nominations, including nods in the best new artist category.
