Foodies shocked after genius grandpa reveals exactly how to eat a sausage roll: 'This changes everything'

An elderly man has been labelled as 'the smartest person on the planet' after his granddaughter revealed his 'genius' way of eating a sausage roll.

Sydney chef Lillian Kaskoutas was having lunch with her Greek grandfather Platon who ordered a sausage roll with tomato sauce on the side.

Rather than squirting the condiment on top of the pastry - as most Aussies tend to do - Platon instead sliced the sausage roll through the centre horizontally and carefully scooped the sauce inside before enjoying his lunch.

'He's been eating them like that for at least 20 years. He's such a classic,' Lillian, 27, told FEMAIL.

The technique was dubbed as 'elite', 'brilliant' and a 'game changer' by thousands online after Lillian shared a now-viral video.

While many were amazed by the tactic, others questioned why they didn't think to do this sooner.

'You just changed my life!' one wrote.

'That is revolutionary,' another declared.

'My mind is blown,' a third added.

'Why am I only learning about this now? This is brilliant,' another asked.

Someone else said: 'Wait, this is actually so smart! definitely trying this next time I eat a sausage roll.'

One person also shared their own recommendation when ordering sausage rolls.

'You got to stuff the centre with shredded cheese and then whack it in the microwave to melt,' she wrote.

Earlier this month thousands only just realised the 'correct way' to use a sandwich press.

A fierce debate ignited after Sydney radio hosts Will and Woody from KIIS FM asked listeners a simple question.

'When the green light goes on, does that mean that the toastie is done, like the jaffle is cooked, or does that just mean that the plate is hot enough and ready to cook a jaffle?' Will McMahon said.

The two debated amongst themselves then Woody Whitelaw asked, 'How do you know if it's ready?'

A co-host pointed out how the appliance 'isn't smart enough to tell you when your jaffle is ready'.

Majority of listeners believe the green light signifies when the plate has reached peak temperature but one woman on-air said it means 'both'.

After sharing a clip on TikTok, opinions were divided in the comments and dozens shared their points.
