Football High Live: Scores, highlights from Friday’s third-round playoff games

The stars will be out tonight for Round 3 of the AHSAA playoffs.

The biggest games come in Class 7A where the finalists will be decided between four-time reigning champ Thompson and Hewitt-Trussville in the North and Mary G. Montgomery and No. 1 Central-Phenix City in the South.

The 1A-6A games are quarterfinal matchups. No. 1 teams Leroy (1A), B.B. Comer (2A), Mobile Christian (3A), Montgomery Catholic (4A), Gulf Shores (5A) and Saraland (6A) will all be in action along with Central-Phenix City.

Logan Anderson has seven touchdowns tonight for Fyffe. Red Devils lead Locust Fork 49-26. Anderson with 29 carries for 335 yards and 7 TDs tonight.

Parker now up 28-10 on Gadsden City with 9:47 left in the game.

Homestanding Wildcats get a 5-yard score from Eli Morrison on the third play of the fourth quarter. Guntersville now leads Pleasant Grove 17-14. Good one going in Class 5A.

Jacksonville cuts the Montgomery Catholic lead to 31-17 with 3:28 left in the third on Jim Ogle’s TD pass to Ky’Dric Fisher.

Saraland still leads Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 28-14, but Patriots just intercepted KJ Lacey. Third turnover over the game for the Spartans.

Class 3A No. 1 Mobile Christian now leads Trinity 28-14 with 2:30 left in the third. Jason Todd with a 7-yard TD run for the Leopards.

No. 2 Clay-Chalkville now leads Muscle Shoals 23-7 early in the second half. Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe with a 21-yard TD pass to Mario Craver.

Deshawn Spencer with a TD run for No. 1 Saraland. Spartans lead Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 21-7 with 6:41 left in the third.

KJ Lacey just scrambled for 27 seconds. Really! Play resulted in a 7-yard gain plus a late hit. Saraland scores to lead 21-7. 6:41 left in the third.

No. 1 Montgomery Catholic now leads Jacksonville 31-10 with 10:44 left in the third quarter in 4A. Josh Griffin with a 57-yard TD run for the Knights.

Guntersville reclaims a 10-7 lead over Pleasant Grove on Eli Morrison’s 35-yard TD pass to Cam Logan with 10:46 left in the third.

Sylvania now tied at Madison Academy 21-21 midway through the third quarter in the 3A quarterfinals.

Reigning 3A champ St. James leads Thomasville 21-13 at the half. Thomasville will receive the opening kickoff of the second half.

Santae McWilliams starring as No. 1 Saraland leads Hillcrest 14-7. McWilliams has scored both touchdowns on a run of 2 yards and a catch of 9 yards. He’s rushed 12 times for 48 yards and caught two passes for 24. He also had an 80-yard TD catch called back.
