Former LRS customers upset with bin removal fees

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Former LRS recycling customers are left unhappy after claiming the company charged them almost double the price of their normal monthly bill.

This came after these customers switched from LRS to a different company.

John Pederson is one of the former LRS customers. After switching his weekly garbage pickup to Aspen Waste, he isn't happy he's being charged for removal of the company's cans.

"That's their equipment," Pederson said. "I would expect to be charged if they didn't return it."

Pederson shared his invoice after cancelling LRS services.

Pederson says he will not be paying this bill, but he is concerned about other customers who have already had the money taken from their bank accounts due to an auto pay feature LRS advertises.

"This seems somewhat retaliatory," Pederson said. "Knowing that the number of residents who did switch."

Pederson argues that costs for the removal of the trash bins is something that should be handled by the company.

"Thats part of the service, that's baked in," he said. "You bring these cans to us for no charge, you take them away at no charge," Pederson said.

LRS provided a statement regarding upset former costumers:
