STILLWATER, Okla. ( KFOR ) — A former Moore firefighter accused of brutally beating an Oklahoma State University student appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon.

Luke Fields was silent walking out of the Payne County courtroom with his attorney.

The now-fired firefighter was arraigned for aggravated assault and battery, a felony.

"It was hard seeing him today," said Tonia Parsons.

Tonia Parsons is the mother of Colby Parsons, who was reportedly attacked by Luke Fields and others back in September while he was out on the strip in Stillwater with his girlfriend, Katlyn.

The beating was caught on camera. Colby suffered a broken ankle, lots of cuts and bruises.

"It's been very emotional, it's just been really overwhelming. Colby says he's okay, but he's missed a lot of school, he's still trying to play catch up, he's having to miss doctor's appointments and it's just been a lot," said Parsons.

It's also had an effect on Colby's girlfriend.

"She had never been around any kind of violence, so it really scared her. There was a lot of nights where she called and was pretty upset, so just the emotional strain that it has put on her has been overwhelming for me as a mother," said Sandra Skeen, Katlyn's mother.

Fields, along with Hunter Meadows, was arrested and charged for the attack. At the time, Fields was a Moore firefighter.

He was put on administrative leave after the attack and later fired.

"Justice for me is that he never works as a fireman again, that he just never does this to anybody else, no one's kid because if it can happen to ours, it could happen to anybody's. He just needs to pay for what he did," said Parsons.

Both Colby and Katlyn's mothers say this was just the first part of justice.

At Field's arraignment he was released on a personal recognizance bond, meaning he doesn't have to pay and gives his word he'll show up to future court dates.

Fields next court date is scheduled for December 2.

The other defendant in the case, Meadows, is also facing a felony and is due in court on November 4.
