Former Wisconsin prison employee pleads guilty to bribery

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 47-year-old Wisconsin man pleaded guilty to bribery as a maximum-security prison employee.

According to a release , William Lee Homan, 47, of Fox Lake, pleaded guilty to smuggling contraband into the Waupun Correctional Institution.

Court documents show that Homan, a former facilities repair worker, received around 125 bribe payments, totaling around $53,579 from July 17, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2023, from inmates, former inmates, and their associates in exchange for smuggling contraband into the Waupun Correctional Institution.

Homan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit federal program bribery and is now scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12, 2024. He faces a maximum of five years behind bars. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
