Fort Pickens to be closed ahead of inclement weather, officials say

PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Gulf Islands National Seashore officials announced the closure of Fort Pickens ahead of potentially severe storms on Tuesday .

According to a news release, the Fort Pickens Area is closed until further notice starting on Monday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. for incoming inclement weather.

"Campers at the Fort Pickens Campground will need to evacuate by 4 p.m," the release said. "The rest of the Florida District areas will remain open for day use."

Park staff is scheduled to assess the conditions on Thursday, Nov. 21, to determine an end date.
