JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown branch of the American Association of University Women, in cooperation with the education division of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, will hold the public forum "The Impact of the Pennsylvania Education Budget on our Local School Districts" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Heritage Hall, Living and Learning Center on the UPJ campus, Richland Township.

In a 2023 Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court ruling, the Pennsylvania school funding system was declared unconstitutional. More funding is now required of the state, as well as an equitable, fair means of funding distribution.

The program will discuss the elements of the new Pennsylvania education budget, as well as the factors in a formula that is presently used in funding school districts.

Speakers include Amy Arcurio, Greater Johnstown School District superintendent; Nicole Dull, Conemaugh Township Area School District superintendent; Deanna Haddle, Johnstown Branch AAUW public policy chairwoman; Thomas Mitchell, Westmont Hilltop School District superintendent; Charline Rowland, UPJ division chairwoman of education; and Susan Spicka, executive director of Education Voters of Pennsylvania.

The audience will be able to question the participants.

There is no fee to attend.
