Four Republicans running unopposed for county offices

Jul. 4—ANDERSON — Four Republican Party candidates will not face opponents in the November election.

Terri Austin , chairwoman of the Madison County Democratic Party, said despite her best efforts, she could not find candidates for the county offices.

Incumbent Republican Andrew Hopper will be unopposed for a second term as judge in Madison Circuit Court Division 3.

Incumbent Commissioner John Richwine in District 3 will be unopposed for another term in that office.

Todd Culp is running unopposed for Madison County auditor, and Ken Kocinski will be elected as the county's next surveyor.

Richwine, Culp and Kocinski all had challengers in the May primary election.

Libertarian Brandon Collins has filed for one of the three at-large seats on the Madison County Council.

Collins will be running against Democrats Rebecca Crumes, Stephen Holtzleiter and Fred Reese Jr. The three Republican candidates are Jonathan Culp, Kristi Grabowski and Scott Green.

Incumbent Republican Mikeal Vaughn lost a bid for another term on the council in the primary election. Incumbent Republicans Anthony Emery and Ben Gale didn't seek re-election.

MarQuest Higgins has filed as a Libertarian candidate for the District 2 seat on the Madison County Board of County Commissioners.

Higgins will be running against Republican Rick Gardner and Democrat Ollie H. Dixon.

Gardner is completing his second term as Madison County auditor; Dixon is a longtime member of the Anderson City Council, representing District 4.

Democrats were able to field candidates in four of the five races for seats in the Indiana House of Representatives.

Thonja Nicholson, a graduate of the party's first class of Hoosier Women Forward, will be run in District 36 against incumbent Republican Kyle Pierce.

Pierce is seeking a second term after defeating Austin in the 2022 election cycle.

Incumbent Republican Elizabeth Rowray is seeking a second term against Democrat Phil Gift in District 35.

With the retirement of Bob Cherry in District 53, Republican Ethan Lawson is being challenged by Democrat Noah Anderson.

Incumbent Republican Chris Jeter in District 88 is running against Democrat Stephanie Jo Yocum.

District 31 incumbent Republican Lori Goss-Reaves is running unopposed for a second term.
