Free Thanksgiving buffet for veterans, families and seniors
K.Thompson1 hr ago
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Thomas Hill, founder of Cookies 4 Kindness, is hosting the annual free community Thanksgiving buffet once again this year. They will be serving a full turkey dinner with all the sides and desserts to any veteran, family or individual with nowhere else to celebrate the holiday. Hill, along with Pasor Rob Ham and the Bridge Church (1330 Foster Drive, Reno) and Jaynce Rossall, secretary of the Reno Arch Lions Club and Read Between the Lions, stopped by Morning Break to ask the community for volunteers and donations to make this dinner possible. Lunch will be served Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 26-27 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. Last year they served over 500 people, gave out 48 new wheelchairs, assisted in helping many with eye care and the Katie Grace Foundation gave out hundreds of socks and other warm items to the veterans and people in need. This year, they expect to serve a bigger crowd where all are welcome, especially veterans and seniors. They are also in need to volunteers to help cook, prep, set-up, clean and breakdown the tables/decorations after the event. To sign up, contact Thomas Hill at This event is sponsored by The Bridge Church, Cookies for Kindness and Reno Arch Lions Club.to learn more about the event.
