Fresno City College rolls past Reedley in Battle for the Pump. Is NorCal playoffs next?

A big performance by Fresno City College led to a 35-12 victory over Reedley to retain the pump in the annual "Battle for the Pump" on Saturday afternoon at Ratcliffe Stadium. NorCal playoffs next for the Rams? It's possible Fresno City could get there following next week's games based on their strength of schedule. Rams coach Tony Caviglia is hoping for an opportunity. "We don't know," he said. "We have a week off and we're going to play (in the playoffs or bowl game). We don't know where or who or what, but right now we took care of what we had to take care of and that is to win this game and to put ourselves a chance to get a playoff berth." Fresno City faced a tough nonconference schedule this season. The Rams played San Mateo, American River, San Mateo, Laney and Diablo Valley. The Rams only lost to San Mateo 14-7, which won the Bay 6 Conference "It's not up to us anymore," Fresno City quarterback Ryan Markarian said. "We hope we're in the playoffs, but we don't know." The Rams, meanwhile, took care of business against Reedley, though it was tough to separate from the Tigers. Fresno City held Reedley scoreless in the second half. Rams running back Ah'Marion Gaines-Smith finished with 19 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown.The Rams' defense was huge in the game. Trey Carr and Jaylon Jones each had interceptions for Fresno City.
