From sports injuries to orthopedic issues: Shriners Children's Hawaii returns for free consultation services

An outreach medical team from Shriners Children's Hawaii is returning to Guam to provide free consultation services for island children up to 17 years old with the following conditions:

These services are by appointment only, according to the Department of Public Health and Social Services.

The free consultation services will be provided at the DPHSS Northern Region Community Health Center in Dededo from Oct. 23 to 26, and from Nov. 4 to 7.

The Shriners Children's Hawaii accepts insured and uninsured children. A referral from a physician is not required.

Additionally, due to limited appointment slots, patients who are not able to secure a schedule will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted once a slot becomes available.

Parents or legal guardians of new patients are required to complete an application form before scheduling an appointment, which can be picked up at 155 Hesler Place in Hagåtña from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the DPHSS Shriners Children's Hospital Office.

Returning patients are reminded to obtain x-rays before their appointment, and to bring a copy of the x-ray in CD on the appointment day.

The physician order for x-rays can be picked up at the DPHSS Shriners Children's Hospital Office at Hesler Place, Hagatna, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Parents or legal guardians may also request an application via the emails listed above. They will also need to submit a copy of their child's birth certificate, parent identification card, and proof of legal guardianship, if applicable.
