The East Texas State Fair begins soon, but it's important to remember that after the fun comes just as much clean up.

"We worked late last night cleaning up and this morning we had to move a lot of the stands and stuff around," one fair worker said.

Some food stand workers felt they may have had less sales due to the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 earlier that year.

"A lot of people are still wanting to, you know, stay in and not get out, still in shock," one East Texas State Fair food stand worker said.

However, some parts of the fair felt like their business was unaffected.

"I had lines maybe, 1000 feet long at times," a ride operator said.

Ticket sales showed that in 2001, there were more attendees than ever before at the fair, showing that East Texans were not going to let the national tragedy stop them from supporting their community.
