Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis has been named the ACC Player of the Year. Travis also was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year while N.C. State linebacker Payton Wilson won the defensive honor. Voting for the awards was conducted by a 65-member voting panel consisting of 51 selected media and the conference’s 14 head coaches. Travis was 207-of-324 passing for 2,756 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions while adding 176 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 73 carries. The redshirt senior from West Palm Beach led the Seminoles to an 8-0 mark in the ACC, the program’s 10th unbeaten conference record and first since 2014, and was the quarterback of record for each of FSU’s first 11 wins. His season came to an abrupt end in the penultimate game of the regular season, severely injuring his left leg against North Alabama. Travis became the Seminoles’ career leader in touchdowns responsible for (97) and total offense (10,554 yards), records he achieved earlier this year. He previously broke program records for QB rushing yards (1,910) and QB rushing TDs (31). He’s the sixth FSU player to win ACC Player of the Year, joining Jameis Winston (2013), Chris Weinke (2000), Andre Wadsworth (1997), Danny Kanell (1995) and Charlie Ward (1992-93). No. 4 FSU (12-0) plays No. 15 Louisville (10-2) on Saturday in the ACC championship game. • • • , Rays, Lightning and college football across Florida.
