Fullerton City Council Election Night Results 2024
In a college town facing calls for affordable housing, repairing aging infrastructure and patching up a long-standing budget deficit – three seats up for grabs in this year's election.
Here are the Election Night tallies for Fullerton's City Council races:
District 1Initial results as of 8 p.m. showed Fred Jung started election night with 4,148 votes – a lead of 2,585 votes over candidate Matt Truxaw.
Jung holds 72.63% of the vote so far, according to data from the OC Registrar of Voters.
The district stretches the northwest part of the city – home to the Sunny Hills neighborhood west of Harbor Blvd.
District 2Initial results showed Nick Dunlap was leading by 1,621 votes over Jan Flory as of 8:05 p.m. Tuesday night.
Encompassing Coyote Hills and home to popular green spaces like Hillcrest Park and Vista Park, the district beginning north of Chapman Avenue also includes Fullerton College.
District 4The most contested city council seat comes from Fullerton's southwestern district, with four candidates in the running for outgoing Councilman Bruce Whitaker's spot.
Initial counts as of 8:05 p.m. showed Kitty Jaramillo was in the lead with 1,486 votes.
Jamie Valencia was not far behind with 1,311 votes, while Linda Whitaker held 709 votes as ballots continue to be tallied Tuesday night.
Scott Markowitz, who was charged by OC's District Attorney three weeks before the election for felony perjury is unable to hold office if elected, resulting in a special election for the council seat if he wins.

The winner of District 4 will take over for Bruce Whitaker, who was first elected to Fullerton City Council in 2010 for a two-year term. He was elected for his first four-year term back in 2012, holding a City Council seat until exiting politics this year.
