Funds allocated for communities in Donegal that suffered water woes for number of years

Funding of €237,471 has been allocated to the Conwall area while Miltown, Newmills has been granted €117,260 through the rural water services project scheme.

Residents in the areas have been plagued by water issues including a lack of supply and burst pipes, while Conwall residents have never had a mains water supply.

The funding has been welcomed by Cllr Donal 'Mandy' Kelly and he said he is delighted that the funding will now be used to secure a much needed, reliable and sufficient water supply by carrying out works and upgrades of new pipes.

"The residents in these areas have suffered for a long time with water issues and areas such as Conwall that never had mains water will now soon be added to the mains service.

"This is something I have pushed hard for over the last few years, and it's great to now have these funds secured.

"I want to thank the residents in these areas for their patience, and I can assure them that I will continue to keep the pressure on to ensure these much needed works are carried out as soon as possible.

"I am also pushing very hard to secure an adequate service for the Bomany areas of Newmills. I am confident that I will get this over the line in the not so distant future through the ongoing conversations I am having with Uisce Eireann and our own local authority.

"I will continue to push hard on this to deliver as soon as possible for each and every individual in these areas," said Cllr Kelly.
