GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Chad Olson and his family began assessing the damage after a Saturday morning fire destroyed his business, Olson Furniture Outlet Annex building and warehouse.

Olson said a neighbor of the business called him around 12:30 a.m. to let him know the building was on fire. He rushed to the scene and when he was on Airport Road he saw smoke and knew there wasn't good news awaiting him. Olson said the Annex building has been in his family for several decades.

"My grandparents bought the building in 1958, it use to be a dance hall," Olson said. "They had hundreds and hundreds of auctions through here, then I bought the building from my father and started up Olson Outlet. We've had a furniture store here for about eight years."

Olson said he holds on to his memories of working in the Annex building with his father. He intends on reopening Olson Furniture Store Oct. 9, adding, they will rebuilding and be stronger than they were before.
