Gameday Primer: Penn State faces the “Spoilermakers”
No. 4 Penn State (8-1)at 1-8 Purdue When: Saturday, November 16 at 3:30 p.m. Where: Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, IN
Three Things to Watch... The Purdue "Spoilermakers" are never to be trusted. Since 1950, Purdue has 9 wins over top-2 teams in the country, most recently beating no. 2 Iowa in 2021. Perhaps the good news for Penn State is that this stat doesn't apply, the Nittany Lions are ranked fourth in the country and are nearly a 30-point favorite.
Once again Nick Singleton's status is in the headlines. The junior running back left the win against Washington in the fourth quarter. James Franklin said he was dealing with a "short-term" injury. He's expected to play, but it would behoove the Nittany Lions to limit his reps. It's not just Singleton, the entire starting lineup would benefit from a big early lead that allows James Franklin to rotate in the reserves.
