A.Walker2 hr ago
The incident happened near the junction of Distillery Road and The Fairways at around 12.30 p.m. An ambulance was called and the woman was eventually taken to Wexford General Hospital for further treatment. Her arm is understood to have borne the worst of the impact and thankfully her injuries are reported to be "non life-threatening" and she's expected to make a full recovery. Wexford Gardaí confirmed that the driver failed to remain at the scene of the road traffic collision and a full investigation is now under way. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, particularly those with dashcam footage or relevant information is asked to contact Wexford Gardaí on 0539165200 or the garda confidential line on 1800 666111. The dangers of the junction, near O'Shea, Bramley and Breen Veterinary Centre, have been flagged for some time. In particular, Sinn Féin councillor Tom Forde has long sought action to be taken there. In recent months, Wexford County Council confirmed its intention to install a mini-roundabout at the junction, as well as further pedestrian crossings along Distillery Road.
