BEATRICE - Gary A. Gibson, 89, of Beatrice passed away on September 28, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 14, 1935, at Beatrice and lived in Beatrice his entire life. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1954. He served in the Nebraska National Guard, Company C, 2-134th Infantry of Beatrice. He had been an employee of Hoover Group in Beatrice since 1954 – working as a specification analyst and the product cost manager. After retiring in 2004, he began working at Beatrice Container/Titan IBC in purchasing and customer service. He is a member of Christ Community Church of Beatrice. He is also a member and had served as president of Kiwanis Early Risers of Beatrice, Nebraska. He is a former member of Elks Lodge #619 of Beatrice, Nebraska and had served as Past Exalted Ruler. Gary enjoyed his 57 Chevy, motorcycles, Huskers and Kansas City Chiefs football, collecting knives, his skull rings, woodworking, leather working, tattoos, coloring, watching golf and attending his grandchildren's activities. It was a rite of passage for grandpa to take each grandchild to get their first pair of walking shoes and their first tattoo.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Beatrice; two daughters, Gayla G. Claassen and her husband Stacy of Beatrice and Laura L. Neukirch of Lincoln; two sons, Todd A. Gibson of Beatrice and Rayce D. Gibson and his wife Sandy of Weatherford, TX; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and two great-great grandchildren on the way; one brother, Roger L. Gibson and his wife Jan of Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Marlene Weideman and her husband Harvey of Deshler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bertha B. "Bonnie" Walker Gibson; one grandson, Darren Howe.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Christ Community Church of Beatrice with Pastor Dan Martin officiating, casual dress is preferred. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. The body will lie in state on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting relatives and friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project .
