PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The average price of gas in the Peoria area dropped about six cents a gallon last week.

According to a GasBuddy survey of 148 gas stations in the Peoria area, the average price of gas was $3.26 a gallon on Monday. This is about eight cents cheaper than a month ago and 17 cents cheaper than this time last year.

The most expensive gas in the area was priced at about $3.59 a gallon, while the cheapest was priced at $2.99 a gallon at the Becks and Kroger Gas Stations in Washington.

Gas prices fall again in the Peoria, says Gas Buddy website

The average price of gas in the state is about $3.23 a gallon, while the average price of gas in the U.S. is about $3.05 a gallon.

"Seasonal trends continue to push down gasoline prices across much of the country, with GasBuddy counting 26 states where average gas prices have fallen below $3 per gallon—something that could be less than a week away for the national average," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "While much of the attention this week will be on the election and how it could potentially change the trajectory of the nation, gasoline prices are likely to be a gift to the next president, staying much lower than in previous years when COVID and Russia's war on Ukraine caused a surge that's unlikely to repeat, no matter who wins the election."
