GCC gets top ranking on college search website

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– A national college search web site gives Greenfield Community College (GCC) high marks.

, a website for exploring college options, has ranked GCC as the #1 in Best Community College in Massachusetts, garnering a an overall grade of B+.

Rankings are based on analysis of academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education and reviews from students and alumni.

The college says it's their dedication to student success, academic excellence and campus culture that places them high on the list.

"We are thrilled to be recognized as the top community college in Massachusetts," said GCC President Dr. Michelle Schutt. "Now that our state has made college free to all, we look forward to helping even more students to thrive academically and in their careers."

The school's acceptance rate is 100% and offers flexible learning options to meet the diverse learning needs of students, with 28% of students using a combination of online and in-person learning options, 34% attending on campus and 38% learning completely online. The most popular majors at GCC are Liberal Arts and Humanities, Nursing, Business and Emergency Medical Technician.

Also, when continuing their education at other Massachusetts state schools, GCC students are easily able to transfer credits toward a higher degree.
