George Strait to perform at military gala in San Antonio. Here’s when.
Following his record-breaking concert at Kyle Field in College Station this summer, George Strait's next Texas performance will be in front of a much smaller - but equally impressive - audience.
Strait will play the Patriot Awards Gala Oct. 3 at the Convention Center. It's part of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention, an annual event being held in San Antonio for the first time this year.
According to information on the organizers' website, as many as 40 of the 60 living recipients of the Medal of Honor - the nation's highest award for military service - are expected to attend.
The King of Country also will be playing for some fellow Texas legends.
Among the honorees at the gala will be actor Chuck Norris and the Gene and Jerry Jones family, which will receive he Patriot Award, the society's highest honor. According the the event's website, that award will be accepted by Charlotte Jones, daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. She has been involved in fundraising for the National Medal of Honor Museum, which is scheduled to open in March in Arlington.
Other honorees are Richard M "Tres" Kleberg III, Fox news anchor Martha MacCallum and actor Taylor Kitsch.
Actor Gary Sinese will serve as master of ceremonies.
