Girmen Helps Coughlin Late
TUNKHANNOCK — Wendy Girmen scored eight of her team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter to help Coughlin win a closely fought Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball game 46-44 over Tunkhannock on Friday.
Jordan Britt chipped in 11 points and Lauren McGinley and Laura Taylor each added nine for the Crusaders.
Kristen Condeelis scored eight of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Tigers close.
MMI Prep 52, West Side Tech 24
MMI used a 17-4 third-quarter run to pull away.
Sophomore Morgan Palermo (17 points, 15 rebounds) and senior Krissy Sissick (12 points, 11 rebounds) recorded double-doubles for the Preppers. Palermo also went 11-for-14 from the free-throw line.
Wyoming Seminary 54, Hanover Area 44
Wyoming Seminary’s Laura Casey led all scorers with 19 points, while teammate Allie Berry chipped in 17 more. The Blue Knights finished 11-for-14 from the stripe.
Christina Flaherty paced Hanover Area with 13 points.
Pittston Area 50, Crestwood 34
Pittston Area outscored Crestwood 19-7 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game.
Regina Linskey led Pittston Area with 22 points. Kristen Baumes followed with 13.
Jennifer Boone scored nine for Crestwood.
Hazleton Area 54, Wyoming Area 25
Hazleton Area didn’t hit a field goal until the second quarter, but took complete control after halftime to rout Wyoming Area.
Madelyn Ludwig scored 23 points for Hazleton Area, which trailed 4-3 after one quarter. The Cougars led 23-15 at halftime, but built the advantage to 42-17 after the third quarter.
Allie Scalzo had seven points for Wyoming Area.
Lake-Lehman 55, Meyers 39
Tina Watkins scored 25 points and Marissa Harrison added 15 as the Black Knights rolled.
Jenera Quinones had 14 and Amber Giampietro added 12 for Meyers.
Wyoming Valley West 49, Berwick 29
Rachael Fox led Wyoming Valley West with eight points.
Amber Reilly scored eight points for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Bishop Hoban 55, Dallas 45
Lindsay Maximowicz scored a game-high 17 points to lead Bishop Hoban. Rachael Keefe contributed 16 points for the Argents.
Danielle Krawetz led the Mountaineers with 11 points and Lyndsay Ellis chipped in 10 points.
Northwest 50, Bishop Hafey 22
Felicia Zawatski led Northwest with a game-high 16 points, including the contest’s only two three-pointers. Brittany Piatt added 11 points for Northwest.
