Go bonds for Fort Myers parks added to your election ballot On your ballot, you will see a general obligation bond or "go bond." If voters say yes, Fort Myers will spend money on improving 18 parks across the city. Some of that $76 million will be used to improve parks at public schools in Fort Myers and parks that include Golf View Park off US-41, Fort Myers Middle School Academy Park and City View Park. So what will it cost you? About $104 more a year in taxes if you own a home worth around $300,000. "Having the parks master plan shows exactly how these tax dollars will be spent. So, it's not like we're asking, you know, just given this, this money, we're going to do some good with it. No, the plan outlines how that money is going to be spent," said Mayor Kevin Anderson. The city will also buy more land to expand parks. "I know the city sits on a lot of property that isn't used for anything, and I think it's about time they put the investments back in," said resident Jacob Thomas. There is a full list of the plans on the city's website here.
