Gov. DeSantis speaks ahead of Hurricane Milton

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Gov. DeSantis is speaking in Tallahassee ahead of Hurricane Milton.

The governor will be joined by Kevin Guthrie, the Florida Division of Emergency Management Director, Jared Perdue, the Florida Department of Transportation Secretary, and Major General John D. Haas Adjutant General of Florida.

LIVE 8 AM UPDATE: Milton upgraded to a Category 3 Hurricane as it moves through the Gulf

Hurricane Milton is currently a Category 3 storm located roughly 750 miles west-southwest of Tampa with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph.

Milton is expected to become a Category 4 Hurricane later today and maintain that intensity over the next couple of days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
