Gov. Reeves announces $110 million in grants. Here’s a list of South Mississippi projects

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is seeing impressive economic development, Gov. Tate Reeves said Wednesday as he announced millions of grants to add more business and conservation efforts.

Reeves said $110 million in grants would be spent throughout the state for future economic development success.

A map of the distribution shows much of the projects will be in South Mississippi, thanks to GOMESA grants, which come from oil and gas leases off the Coast, and the Restore Act funds that come from the BP oil spill in 2010.

"I've never been more bullish on Mississippi's economy and I've never been more bullish on the Gulf Coast," he said.

Projects announced for South Mississippi include:

Site Development Grant Program $1.4 million — Pearl River County Industrial Park to construct a water tank and relocate power lines.

$28.4 million Restore Act funding $7.1 million for Pearl River, Stone and several other counties for Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network Program to develop a workforce training program to support the growing AI and technology fields.

$6.6 million for Cyber Center to support the construction of the Mississippi Cyber and Technology Center in Harrison County

$4.4 million for Jackson County Port Authority bulkhead expansion for a 500-foot-long renovation of outfitting bulkhead and associated dredging to support increased capacity.

$2.75 million for Project Seaway rail truck bulkhead in Harrison County for construction of an intermodal transload site

$1.9 million to Pearl River Community College for hydrographic science instruction.

$1.65 million for Kapalama Road sewer infrastructure in Hancock County for improvements for current and future sewer needs.

$1.65 million for Highway 63/Escatawpa natural gas pipeline installation in Jackson County

$1.2 million for Port of Gulfport for engineering and design of the east pier expansion containment.

$1.1 million for apron and taxiway improvements at Trent Lott Airport, Jackson County

Southeast Crescent Regional Commission $500,000 for I-59/Sycamore intersection improvements and Frontage Road in Pearl River County

$446,888 to the Nicholson Water and Sewer Association to extend water and sewer infrastructure along the I-59 corridor

$312,000 to Mississippi Small Business Development Center for a two-year initiative to support small businesses in Stone, George, Harrison, Pearl River, Hancock and Jackson counties.

$50,000 to Pearl River County for the development of a strategic advancement plan for the Poplarville/Pearl River County Airport

$25.7 million in GOMESA funding $4 million to Hancock County to extend sewer and water systems to Waveland's "City Center" district

$3.2 million for Marine Aquaculture Demonstration Center for Economic Development in Jackson County to help foster business in South Mississippi by operating aquaculture businesses in different seafood industries.

$2.7 million to expand the sewer system for Martin Bluff and Hickory Hills Sewer, Gautier

$2.5 million to D'Iberville for engineering, design and partial construction of the city's marina expansion along the Back Bay of Biloxi.

$2.5 million for Highway 603 Sewer Expansion (Kiln Utility and Fire District) to enhance existing sewer infrastructure by expanding the sewer service from Highway 43 to Cuevas Town Road.

$2.4 million for mitigation of hurricane impacts on Mississippi Gulf Coast Municipal Harbors in Hancock, Harrison, Jackson counties

$2,370,376 to Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties to map harbors and update maps over five years.

$1.7 million for Gulfport Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades

$1.6 million to Ocean Springs to complete design and permitting for the Front Beach Bulkhead project, with the bulkhead and living shoreline components to be the first phase of construction.

$1.2 million to Ocean Springs to improve water and sewer infrastructure and to elevate the roadway between Front Beach Drive and Lafontaine.

1.2 million to Jackson County Utility Authority to install 6,000 linear feet of infrastructure and place a lift station at the Highway 57/Poticaw Road Intersection to Paige Bayou Road.

$1 million for the rehabilitation and repair of six miles of sewer main and attached services in Sewer Basin 3 in Sewer System Improvements Phase III, Diamondhead Water

$1 million to Hancock County Water/Sewer District to replace five miles of 12" and 8" asbestos cement pipe with 12" PVC.

$800,000 for MS Coastal Map Revision Project in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties to assist with finishing the project.

Additional GOMESA grants $3.75 million for Riverfront Coastal River Protection in Moss Point for coastal protection, conservation, restoration, hurricane protection and infrastructure for coastal wetlands.

$1.1 million for Mississippi Sound Estuary Program Coastwide to inform the development and implementation of a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan

$1.1 million for Living Shoreline Technical Assistance Coastwide to provide expertise and resources encouraging waterfront property owners to conserve and restore intertidal habitat within their riparian rights zone.

$1.1 million to add an interactive exhibit at the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport for education and tourism.

$1.1 million for Speckled Trout Enhancement Program in Harrison County to support the restoration and long-term sustainability of the spotted sea trout.

$1.1 million for construction of an ADA-compliant boardwalk connecting the municipal harbor, beach access and downtown businesses.

$1 million for Dolphin & Sea Turtle Hospital and enhancement of rehabilitation facilities at Institute of Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport to construct a permanent and enhanced dolphin and sea turtle hospital.

$865,000 for fixed lab equipment at Mississippi State University in Jackson County to purchase equipment to complete the analytical and biosafety laboratory capabilities.

$252,500 for rehabilitation of the Sue Ellen Recreation Center in Moss Point

$118,500 for Storm Water Park in Moss Point to enhance stormwater parks, mitigate flooding and reduce non-point source pollution into Bayou Casotte
