NORTHEAST, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Governor Kay Ivey (R-AL), has announced that over $3 Million dollars in state funding is being awarded to various cities and counties throughout the state for road and bridge projects on Monday.

The funding is made available under the Alabama Department of Transportation's (ALDOT) Annual Grant Program created by the Rebuild Alabama Act.

The Rebuild Alabama Act was overwhelmingly passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Ivey in 2019 requiring ALDOT to establish an annual program that sets aside at least $10 million dollars off the top of the state's share of gas tax revenue for local projects.

Part of the funding is on the way to benefit roadways and bridges in DeKalb and Jackson counties.

In DeKalb County, Dilbeck Road from Church Avenue NW to SR-75 will be resurfaced in Rainsville. This project received $225,000 in state funding for completion.

In Jackson County, a full depth reclamation of Kimberly Drive will take place in Woodville.

Additional roadways including Robinson Lane, Cedar Crest Drive, Mountain View Drive, and Kimberly Circle will also be resurfaced as a result of the funding.

Woodville received $300,000 in state funding along with a $50,000 local match to get the projects completed.

"From day one of the Ivey Administration, I have made clear to the people of our state that improving Alabama's roads and bridges is a top priority, and I am proud we continue delivering on that promise," said Governor Ivey. "Our work is not done, and we will continue delivering results in all 67 of our counties."

More than $15 million in state transportation funds has been awarded through the application-based program during the 2024 fiscal year.

All projects are required to move forward within one year of the awarding of funds.
