Grand Island state senate race still up in the air

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - It's not clear yet who will be Grand Island's state senator in the Nebraska Legislature. The latest unofficial results show challenger and former state senator Dan Quick leading incumbent Ray Aguilar. The vote count for the District 35 seat is Quick 4,941 and Aguilar 4,816, a margin of 125 votes. But Hall County Election Commissioner Tracy Overstreet said Wednesday that there were still votes to be counted. Overstreet said there were more than 190 ballots in District 35 which were unresolved. She said it might be several days before they're counted and it could change the outcome of the race. Quick might still win, but Aguilar might also be re-elected. And if the margin of victory for either candidate is small enough, it might trigger a recount. Quick was elected to represent District 35 in 2017 and served until 2020 when he lost to Aguilar. Before Aguilar became senator in 2020, he served in the legislature in 2000 and 2004. Local4 interviewed both men Tuesday night.Below is a look at the map for the area District 35 covers
