LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - "It's only going to come from reaching across differences, whether those are religious, political, racial, or whatever differences we can construct..."

"We knew that we wanted to be together in a time of peace, in a time of silence, because everyone has been so anxious leading up to this election," said Reverend Dr. Shawnthea Monroe, the lead pastor of The People's Church.

Various faiths and religions gathered at the People's Church in East Lansing. All groups prayed and shared words hoping for a peaceful election season.

"If our country is going to move forward in the aftermath of the election, it's only going to come from reaching across differences, whether those are religious, political, racial, or whatever differences we can construct. We've got to start knitting it back together," said Rev. Dr. Monroe.
