GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Greenfield man is facing numerous felony charges after being arrested in connection with a series of break-ins across Franklin County.

According to authorities, Matthew Tetzloff, 36, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday after police conducting surveillance observed him entering a business on Avenue A in Turners Falls.

When he exited the building carrying a safe containing several thousand dollars, officers moved in and detained him. Tetzloff faces 19 charges, including four counts of felony breaking and entering, following a series of burglaries and thefts in Greenfield, Deerfield, Hatfield, and Turners Falls.

Tetzloff was arraigned in Greenfield District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including four counts of felony breaking and entering, eight counts of vandalizing property, three counts of larceny over $1,200, and other related offenses, including possession of burglary tools.

Assistant District Attorney Alex Keir requested that Tetzloff be held without bail due to a separate open criminal case he faces. Judge Laurie MacLeod agreed, ordering Tetzloff held without bail for 90 days and setting a pretrial conference for November 15.

Authorities believe Tetzloff is connected to break-ins at five businesses and a residence across three Franklin County towns. Investigators are also exploring his possible involvement in a similar incident in Hatfield, Hampshire County.
