GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department is seeking information from the community about a deadly September shooting.

Around 8 a.m. on Sept. 18, police said they received a report of a man with blood on him in the driver's seat of a parked car on Fremont Avenue NW near the intersection of Leonard Street NW and Alpine Avenue NW.

The man — later identified as 29-year-old Malik Moore — was pronounced dead on scene.

Now, police are asking for the community's help. Investigators believe Moore was shot and killed between the late hours of Sept. 17 and the early morning hours of Sept. 18 — well before his body was found.

"Since Malik's body was not discovered until around 8 a.m. on (Sept. 18), it's possible someone saw or heard something and didn't realize it could be important to the actual time frame of the murder, which was several hours prior," said Detective Damon Lange in a statement.

"Help us get justice for Malik and closure for his family and loved ones," Lange stated.
