People have been warned to stay indoors after a "chemical incident" in Halifax earlier.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Quarry Court shortly after 11:00 GMT.

They said a "gas cloud" had formed due to chemicals mixing.

They advised anyone living or working nearby to keep doors and windows closed.

The fire service said in a statement: "As a precaution we are asking the public within 100 metres of the area to stay indoors with the doors and windows shut.

"All local businesses in the area should also shut doors and windows.

"We currently have a crew from Illingworth and our DIM {Detection, Identification and. Monitoring] Unit at the scene."
