ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — We won't see many better shootouts in high school football this season than the one that happened Thursday night at Wyeth Stadium in Rockford. The Harlem Huskies outscored the Jefferson J-Hawks 44-38. It was back-and-forth the entire game as the two teams traded touchdowns. Jefferson running back Lashawn Gathright kept galloping into the end zone for the J-Hawks. Jahmani Muhammad kept doing the same for Harlem. Muhammad's last touchdown run with 35 seconds to play in the game was the game-winner. Harlem also struck for an earlier touchdown in the fourth quarter on a long pass from Nate Johnson to super sophomore Jackson Cook after Jefferson had built an 11-point lead at 38-29.

With the win, Harlem improves its record to 3-1. Jefferson is now 0-4, but the J-Hawks are clearly a much-improved team that is battling every team it faces. For highlights of this game, watch the media player above.
