E.Martin2 hr ago

Downtown Farmington is marking the end of summer and the beginning of fall with live entertainment, dancing, drinks and food at the Harvest Moon Celebration.

The celebration will be Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 19-21, at Riley Park, on Grand River Avenue east of Farmington Road.

This is the 19th year of the celebration, which broke off from a much larger summer event, the Farmington Founders Festival, and was intended to give people something fun to do in the fall, said Kate Knight, executive director of the Downtown Development Authority.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 on festival day.

For advance tickets, you can order at www.downtownfarmington.org or visit:

– The Vines Flower and Garden Shop

– Meadows Fine Wine & Liquor

– Farmington Brewing Co.

Drinks and food are available for an extra charge at the event, which is for those ages 21 and up. More than 40 craft beers and ciders and a selection of local wines will be offered.

Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 6 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. each night, with these bands scheduled:

– Thursday: Soul Xpress

– Friday: Main Street Soul

– Saturday: Da'Ja

More than 100 volunteers are helping with the celebration, putting great effort into fall decorations at the park, Knight said.

A few volunteers are still needed; go to www.downtownfarmington.org to sign up.

The Farmington Farmers Market will hold its regular hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Riley Park, with a beer tent available to sell craft beers.
