Hattiesburg man charged in shooting, auto burglaries

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in Hattiesburg.

Police said the shooting occurred near the intersection of West 4th Street and Oliver Avenue on October 14.

According to investigators, the suspect fired several rounds from a moving vehicle in the direction of a person, but the person was able to escape without being struck.

Upon further investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Nicklois Lashun Wesley, 19, of Hattiesburg, for the shooting and for multiple auto burglaries that occurred in Hattiesburg.

Wesley was arrested without incident by Hattiesburg police on Friday, November 1 in the 1800 block of Country Club Road. He was booked into Forrest County Jail on the following charges:

  • One count of aggravated assault: use of a deadly weapon

  • One count of trafficking in stolen firearm

  • Five counts of auto burglary
