MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) - Ghouls and ghosts are wandering the halls at Habitat for Humanity Hiawathaland for the next two weekends.

Annabel, a spooky doll, and the other dolls say they like to closely monitor visitors to the haunted house.

"We like to make sure that everyone is staying calm and collected," Annabel said.

And if they're not?

"We get them more riled up," Annabel said.

Annabel and her friends are haunting the halls during Habitat for Humanity Hiawathaland's seventh annual spooky fundraiser.

Executive Director Ann MacGregor says the fundraiser brings in more than 30% of the money the non-profit raises annually at events.

"The fundraisers help us to have the money to do our home repair programs and work on our rehab houses in our community," MacGregor said.

MacGregor said the organization relies almost 100% on money from fundraisers and donations.

"This is extremely important to us. I mean the more people that turn out for this. They're not just having fun," MacGregor said. "They're really helping maybe a co-worker, their friends, a family member, a neighbor, anybody in the community."

MacGregor said community members can also help the nonprofit organization by getting involved.

"We need volunteers and no matter what your interest is, we can find them for you," MacGregor said. "Whether it's working on a fundraiser, working in our building, helping with construction gardening, anything you want to do, we have the right job for you."

The Haunted House costs $6 for children, $8 for adults and $30 for families of up to 6 people.
