Hawley wraps up bus tour, hammers opponent on immigration

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Missouri Republican U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley wrapped up a three-day bus tour with a final stop in St. Charles County Wednesday, where he addressed supporters at the county's GOP headquarters.

It was Hawley's eighth stop on the cross-state tour, which also included stops in Joplin, Branson, Springfield, Rolla, Fenton, Independence, and Boonville.

These campaign stops are becoming more critical for candidates. While election day itself is 19 days away, no-excuse absentee voting begins on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The 44-year-old first-term senator touched heavily on the issue of immigration during his stop in St. Charles, accusing his Democratic opponent Lucas Kunce of favoring open-border policies. He also tried to tie Kunce to Vice President Kamala Harris, who has avoided publicly endorsing Harris in her bid for the White House.

Hawley also said he plans to push for federal funding for victims of radiation exposure in our area. Funding for the legislation, called the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, better known as RECA, expired earlier this year.
